Round Table: Towards a Fluid Interaction Between University and Industry in HPC

HPC is a major technology used daily by small and big companies around the globe. However, companies from Latin America have still to embrace HPC to improve their innovation processes and their competitiveness. In this sense, a joint effort must be carried on by the Industry and the Academia, in order to fill the gaps in HPC adoption and confront the challenges ahead.

During the HPC Symposium 2009, a roundtable will be held to share experiences and lessons learned about the collaboration between the Industry and the Universities on the HPC field. Researchers and practitioners from abroad will join to local personalities to discuss the status and future of Industry-University joint work on HPC.

Some of the participants of the round table are:

  • Ricardo Medel (Intel, Argentina)
  • Javier Iparraguirre (Ventania Labs)
  • Alvaro Coutinho (Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro, Brasil)
  • Gonzalo Hernandez Oliva (Universidad de Chile, Chile)
  • Gabriel Wainer (Carleton University, Canada)
  • Mariano Váazquez (Barcelona Supercomputing Center, Spain)
  • Alejandro Ceccatto (Ministerio de Ciencia, Tecnología e Innovación Productiva)
